The 8th International Conference of the European Society of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology took place between 8-11th June in Budapest.
Nearly 700 delegates and accompanying persons, representing 55 countries participated in this event. The main conference was held in the Intercontinental Hotel on the Pest bank of the River Danube. The views across to the Budavari Palota and the Citadella Buda were impressive both by day and night. 
The Marriott hotel a few metres away offered additional space for the numerous posters and some free paper sessions. The excellent program was the result of a fruitful collaboration of the International and Hungarian organizing bodies and the active participation of involved professionals and doctors from all over the world.
As usual all areas of Pediatric ORL where addressed with new frontiers of research been presented and importantly discussing the future of training through out the EU. It would not be appropriate to single out any particular lecturer. 
Such an excellent conference would not be possible without the support from device and instrument makers.

The ESPO board were pleased to offer a prize for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd poster displays. The awards were voted democratically by all the delegates. We offer our congratulations to
 Dr Taner Erdag and colleagues from Dokuz Eylul University School of Medicine, Izmir, Turkey for their paper on ‘Pediatric tracheotomy: 8 year review’.
 2nd Prize went to Dr Judit Falvai et al ; ‘Endoscopic treatment of glottic stenosis by a three-year-old child – The role of mitomycin C in improving outcome.’ From AEK, Hungary
And 3rd going to Dr Ritta Saarinen et al; ‘Mandibular Osteomyelitis in children mimicking as juvenile recurrent parotitis.’ From the Dept of ORL, Helsinki University Central Hospital, Finland
It is planned that ESPO will be able to offer scholarships for trainees in Pediatric ORL to attend the next meeting in Pamplona in 2010.

The 10th Congress will be hosted in Pamplona SPAIN 5th - 8th June 2010 Hosted by Prof Manuel Manrique and Javier Cervera Escario (President-Elect)
 The Palais des Congrès de Paris was a superb venue for the latest meeting of ESPO. Held 18 - 21 June it attracted over 800 delegates from 62 countries.
