ESPO Newsletter Spring 2008
The coming ESPO Conference in Budapest is the 8th conference, but already the 23rd assembly of colleagues involved and interested in pediatric otorhinolaryngology since the first meeting of the European Working Group of Pediatric ORL in Sirmione in 1977.
This is a direct evidence of the reason for existence of ESPO!
The attention of colleagues has grown extensively through the years, so later congresses could receive 800 – 1000 participants.
Also in this period the scientific programme has been extended, and now covers the whole field of pediatric ORL with a special focus on major problems and new developments.
For the Budapest Conference in June 2008 the beautiful location of the Intercontinental hotel on the border of the Danube has been chosen. It means that between oral and short oral paper sessions, poster sessions and round tables, and guest lectures and instructional courses you can enjoy a moment of relaxation looking over the river to the hills of Buda, or have a serious discussion at the river terrace with colleagues from anywhere in the world, because not only Europeans have been attracted to the ESPO congresses; more than 60 countries were represented at the last ESPO Congress in Paris in 2006.

Secondly, we would like to draw your attention - already now - to the
1st International Meeting of the European Academy of OtoRhinoLaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery,
which hat will be held in Mannheim, Germany,
from 27 to 30 June 2009 EARORL - HNS Web Site
This meeting is specifically organised for education and training in ORL, and meant for trainees, resident and young ORL specialists.
ESPO will participate in this congress with courses and lectures, focusing on several problems during childhood. Ample time will be allotted to discussion sessions.
So, the ESPO would very much appreciate if you would distribute this information inclusive of the website address of the Academy, to your residents or young colleagues in your environment. In due course the congress will create its own website. The registration fee will be lower than what is normal for congresses and the accommodation is concentrated in student quarters.

we are focusing on the 8th International Conference of ESPO in Budapest, 8-11 June 2008. The local organising committee is very busy finalising the scientific programme. The second announcement is due in December, and also to be read on the ESPO website (www.espo.eu.com).

Spring 2007 has started early in most of the European countries and with the nice ‘summer’ weather the season of congresses and conferences has also begun.
